An AfricaRice delegation led by the Interim Director General
Dr Adama Traoré is participating in the Second Edition of the Science &Technology Week of Abomey-Calavi University (UAC), 15-18 April 2014, near
Cotonou, Benin.
Themed “Challenges and opportunities of the scientific and
technological revolution for progress,” the UAC Science & Technology Week
is organized to present the technological progress achieved by UAC and its
partners and strengthen collaboration in science and technology.
AfricaRice and the Department of Agricultural Sciences at
UAC have forged strong links since 2005. PhD, MSc and DEA students affiliated
to UAC have been conducting their field work at AfricaRice under the
co-supervision of AfricaRice scientists. Currently AfricaRice is hosting 38
students, including 10 PhD, 19 MSc and 9 undergraduates from UAC.
AfricaRice is also taking part in the exhibition of the UAC
Science & Technology Week, where it is showcasing seeds of improved
varieties – such as the ARICAs, the NERICAs and the Sahel series developed by
AfricaRice and its partners – in addition to posters and publication CDs
relating to rice R&D.
