AfricaRice scientists win the Best Paper Award from Crop Science Society of Japan

The Crop Science Society of Japan (CSSJ) has announced that the article “Yield potential and physiological and morphological characteristics related to yield performance in Oryza glaberrima Steud.” by Futakuchi K, Sié M and Saito K in Plant Production Science 15 (3): 151–163 in 2012, received the Best Paper Award in 2014.

According to CSSJ, the review paper clearly presents the characteristics of Oryza glaberrima Steud. and compares them with those of O. sativa L.. “The paper is highly appreciated for compiling information that will be very useful for rice breeding.”

CSSJ is a nonprofit academic society that publishes the Plant Production Science journal in English and the Crop Science journal in Japanese (with English abstracts) four times a year. 

AfricaRice Deputy Director General Marco Wopereis expressed his heartiest congratulations to the award winners.
