As
part of the CGIAR-led Agricultural Technology Fair at the “Celebrating FARA”
event in Johannesburg, South Africa, 26- 28 November 2014, publications and posters
by the Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) displayed at the CGIAR booth, portray how
science is helping realize Africa’s rice promise.
A major thrust of AfricaRice is to make available rice knowledge for
Africa and provide accurate science-based information to policy-makers, donors,
scientists, agricultural professionals, farmers and the general public.
As
one of the 15 international Centers that are members of the CGIAR Consortium
and as a pan-African intergovernmental association, AfricaRice is committed to supporting
the Science Agenda for Agriculture in Africa (S3A) led by FARA.
The
purpose of “Celebrating FARA” event is to take stock of the achievements of the
Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) and reposition it for the next
decade. The event is being held under the overarching theme “FARA – Delivering
Africa’s Future Through Science-led Agricultural Transformation.”
The
AfricaRice delegation at the event is led by Dr Adama Traoré, Interim
Director General.
